Raiding Information

No one that is a member of Psychosis is required to raid. Some people do not like raiding, or would rather farm stuff and make money or PVP, all of which is perfectly fine. However, members that consistently raid will have preference for raid spots over those that do not.

An important concept to remember about raids is that they are not about you, they are about the other 9 or 24 people putting their time into the the raid. This means that it is extremely important to respect the time that your co-raiders are putting in and not hold up the raid or waste time. These rules are in place to help make that happen. Failure to follow these rules can cost you a spot on the raid; repeated failure can cost you raid member status.

1.)Raid Times
-Our primary raids are Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 7:30-11 PM and optionally Sunday from 7-11 PM. All times are server time.

-Your scheduled bathroom break is 30 minutes before raid time, not 5 minutes after.

2). Raid Attendance and Participation

-All raid participants are expected to log on 30 minutes prior to the scheduled raid time. If your class role is filled in the raid prior to your logging on, your raid slot is forfeit unless you have made arrangements ahead of time with the raid leader. We know that some people are running home from work and may get on a few minutes prior to raid time (your illustrious GM is one of them). Please have your characters in the zone we are raiding with all required materials and repairs made.

-Notice is required if you signed up to raid that night but can not be available. The preferred method of notification is by posting on the "Missing a Raid?" forum.

-Preference for raid spots is given in the order that people signed up for the raid. Additionally, exceptions can be made for required classes, raid member status, and who is online when groups start forming.

-From time to time our raiders will need to craft items that will not be a part of their normal gear, but are intended for specific boss fights. These items (usually resist sets) require a significant amount of very expensive materials. Since these items are for the benefit of the progression of the guild as a whole, we will ask for contributions. Effort put into contributing these items will be considered when people are chosen to fill raid spots.

-Some nights there are more people than it is possible to fit in the limited raid sizing available. For these nights we have a waitlist that any raid member who meets all relevant requirements for an encounter will be placed on. If someone needs to leave through the night their spot is filled from the waitlist. If you are on the waitlist for the entire night you are guarenteed a spot the following night on the same content.

3). Raid Preparation

We want to get the most out of our 3 nights of raiding as possible. Therefore, we require all raiders to come prepared with consumables and fully repaired. This applies to everyone and is tracked as one means of seeing who is really interested in putting forth the effort to get that next boss down.
-Flasks and Elixirs are expected for any boss not on farm. Alchemists within the guild can make the most commonly used flasks so you can just buy or trade for the mats. (Keep in mind that all flasks need to be made in the Alchemy Lab in Shat, so don’t ask for one at the raid entrance.) For Gruul’s Lair, flasks can be purchased using easily farmed Apexis Shards.

-Food buffs stack with flasks and are not terribly difficult to farm or buy. They can be great for a little extra oomph on trash prior to breaking out the flasks as well. Food buffs should always be used for boss attempts.

-Several scrolls stack with other buffs as well and can be a useful addition. These are not as easily farmed so are not expected.

-Potions are expected for all participants. Healers and Casters should carry a minimum of 15 mana potions (over 20 is recommended) walking into a raid that is not on farm. Tanks (except for bears) should have a similar number of health pots. Melee DPS should have at least 10 health pots. You say you never need potions? Great! Then you don’t have to keep replenishing those stacks of pots that you are going to bring anyway.

-Beer can be an excellent liquid buff when used properly. Whiskey is also acceptable.

-All non-healing classes must have 375 first aid and carry a stack of heavy netherweave bandages. Healing classes should work on this too, but it is not as essential.

-Reagents for group buffs get used up quickly. If you are sharing the buffing responsibilities with one other person, bring about 60 of the required reagents for 25-man raids. If you are the only one, bring at least 120 reagents for group buffs. Not expected to buff because you don’t have the points in “improved” whatever? Still bring a stack of reagents in case the designated buffer runs low.

-If you have read this far and you are an filling out an application, the correct answer to "Have you read the Expectations and Guidelines and DKP sections?" is: guinness for strength! Please answer the remainder of the questions as requested in the application.

4). How to Become a Better Raider

We have already stated that raiding is not required to be a member in Psychosis. So what do you do if you want to be included in the raids more often? The first thing to understand is that this is mostly in your hands! There is a 25-man limit to work with, but even with our current group we almost always need alternates. The people who are raiding are not there because we are playing favorites; it is because we can count on them to get the job done. There are three things you need to do to show us we can count on you too.
-Show up. On time even.

-Bring the appropriate consumables for your class and role.

-Do your research. It isn’t always gear that allows big differences in individual performance. There is a wealth of information out there on how to get the most out of your class. Use our class forums to ask questions and to share the resources you have found. Use this to figure out what your class brings to each boss fight.

-Follow directions. The raid leaders need everyone to work together in order to successfully beat encounters. This means raiders need to do what is asked of them and follow directions. If a strategy does not work after a few tries, generally a raid leader(s) will ask for some input on ways to fix the problems. This is your chance to give ideas and advice you may have.

-Use an appropriate talent specialization. This will be judged based on your performance in raids. If you are not sure what you should be using, ask around and someone will assist you.
Yes, we do notice these things and we keep track of it. It’s really up to you to put in the effort.

5). Required Addons

Some add-ons are always a good idea and some are only required for raiding. If you are not a regular raider but are expecting to fill in, please install and test the raiding required add-ons well before the raid start time.

  • Omen: This is a threat meter that is more accurate than KTM, but does work with KTM data. Every member must have an up-to-date Omen or KTM.
  • BigWigs Boss Mod: This add-on provides critical warnings and timers for raid bosses. This is only required for raiding.
  • CT Raid Assist or an equivalent alternative: This add-on provides information to assist the raid leader. This is only required for raiding.
