Introduction

Our goal as a guild is to be successful in 25 man raid content while still maintaining a casual and relaxed guild atmosphere. This means that there are a number of expectations that we require our members to meet either in raid or general guild settings so that we can achieve these goals. The following is a collection of rules, expectations, and guidelines that you should use and follow to help make Psychosis a fun, enjoyable place to play and hang out, and to help the guild move forward.

General Rules and Policies

We always hope for sunshine and daisies, but realistically this is not always going to happen. Sometimes there will be disputes among guild members and other players. These rules are in place to help reduce the chances of this happening, and give us options for dealing with the situation if disputes do occur.

1). Language

To start, we are an adult guild, and we generally act like adults. Which means that we frequently use mature (R-rated or above) language. We are not a "family guild." There isn't much that shocks us (no, that is not a challenge). That said, if someone tells you you've crossed a line with swearing or subject matter, you need to respect their wishes and stop. If you think that what you are going to say might cross the line, you probably should not say it.

2). The Big No-nos

The following behaviors are not permitted under any circumstances:
-Racism, sexism, bigotry or promotion of real-life violence towards another person. This includes using slurs based on race, color, creed, sex, or sexual identity.

-Harassment of fellow players, whether in guild or not. It is up to you to be the bigger person and remember this is just a game. If another person is harassing you, use the appropriate channels (ignore them, report them to an officer, report them to a GM). Striking back usually just results in you getting banned, not them.

-Openly arguing policies and decisions made by the leadership. We encourage open communication and value the opinions of all of our members. However, sometimes hard decisions must be made by the officers for the good of the majority of the guild. If you do not agree with the decisions, use proper channels (posting on forums or speaking to officers after the raid) to voice you opinion.

-Unethical playing. Those caught using exploits, hacking, ninja-ing, intentionally wiping a group or otherwise playing unethically will be removed.

-Spamming. Whether in general chat, guild chat, yells, ventrilo, wherever, spamming is annoying. Don't do it.

3). No-Drama Clause

We want the game to be enjoyable for everyone, and we want being part of Psychosis to be a pleasant and rewarding experience. As such, we are implementing a "No Drama" clause. There are sufficient avenues for outlet of frustration (such as these forums, tells to officers, logging off, etc.) that there is no excuse for causing drama or participating in drama, whether internal to the guild or external. If such an occurrence should happen, this is the proceedure:
-An officer will investigate the issue.

-If you are found to be the source of the drama, you will be warned and/or removed from the guild (depending on the severity or repetition), regardless of the legitimacy of the reason the drama started. Keep this in mind. You must keep yourself in check... it doesn't matter if you're "right" or "wrong’.

-Depending upon the severity of the issue, all participants may face guild repercussions, be it a temporary suspension of guild participation privileges, loss of guild rank, or removal from the guild.
An excellent rule of thumb to follow is if you think your next comment might start drama, you should probably keep it to yourself (see a pattern here?).

4). Guild Removal

There are plenty of reasons to get kicked from a guild and we hope not to see any of them. Here are a few of the greatest hits.
-Violating the Guild Rules. It may take repeated minor infractions or you may go for broke with one big whopper of insolence. If there's a problem, we will solve it as quickly as possible and that may mean removing a player on the spot.

-Threatening to leave the guild if you do not get your way will result in you not having the option to /gquit as you will be removed from the guild on the spot.

-Applying to another guild. We want you here. We aren't gearing you up for bigger and better things; we're gearing you up so that we can do the bigger and better things together. If you have issues that are keeping you from enjoying your time gaming with us, we invite you to discus these with the leadership to see if we can resolve them.

-You're annoying. Our GM’s goal is to have as little drama to deal with as possible. Part of that is making sure that everyone gets along or can at least stand one another. If he constantly get complaints about you and your behavior, that puts a buzzing in his ear, and he doesn’t like his ear to buzz.

-Having an alt in another active guild. You can’t serve two masters; just ask any succubus. She will probably tell you that you are naughty and that she is not touching you.

5). Leaving the Guild

Ultimately, it is your $15.00 a month that you spend to play this game. That entitles you to spend your time with those persons that best meet your needs. If you decide to leave Psychosis, please keep these things in mind:
-Talk to one of the guild officers in game. If we have talked to you about resolving the issues to no avail or if you just feel in your heart that this guild is not a good fit for you, we will wish you the best of luck and see you on your way. We would expect you to de-guild during your normal play times and let the guild know you are moving on.

-We aren't a revolving door so keep this in mind when you leave. If you have the Dorothy complex after you leave (There is no place like home...) and you wish to come back to Psychosis, you will need to reapply to the guild. Remember all applications are reviewed on a case by case basis and there is no guarantee that you will be re-invited to the guild.

6). Inactive Members

Characters that are not logged on for over a month will be removed from the guild (including alts). This does not mean that we do not like you, we are just trying to keep the guild roster tidy. If you are removed from the guild due to inactivity, speak to an officer upon your return and we will work on getting you back in. If you know that you will be gone for a long period of time, let an officer know and your character can be flagged so that you will not be removed.

7). Alternate Characters

a) Player Alts
-Alts of main players are allowed in the guild after the player has graduated from the initiate phase and been added to the guild as a causal or raiding player. We do not guild alts of initiates because we have found it becomes difficult to get to know the new folks when they hop from character to character. Once alts are guilded they are bound by the policies of the guild, same as the alts main character.

b) Raiding Alts (and spec changes)
-For those who have raiding mains, we understand that players sometimes find that another class is more inline with their style of playing. Realize that our goal is balancing the raiding team and your swapping characters may not play a part in furthering that goal.

-If you do feel strongly about switching your raiding main or drastically changing your spec, then please speak to the GL to understand the implications. If there is a need for the class/spec you would like to make your main, we may be able to put you in right away as a raiding player. If you are moving into an already overpopulated class/role, there may not be availability for that role. Please let us know if you are still willing to raid on your former main until there is a spot available for your new main. If not, you will be considered a non-raiding member of the guild and will only be considered as an alternate.

Raiding Information

No one that is a member of Psychosis is required to raid. Some people do not like raiding, or would rather farm stuff and make money or PVP, all of which is perfectly fine. However, members that consistently raid will have preference for raid spots over those that do not.

An important concept to remember about raids is that they are not about you, they are about the other 9 or 24 people putting their time into the the raid. This means that it is extremely important to respect the time that your co-raiders are putting in and not hold up the raid or waste time. These rules are in place to help make that happen. Failure to follow these rules can cost you a spot on the raid; repeated failure can cost you raid member status.

1). Raid Times
-Our primary raids are Tuesday/Wednesday/Monday from 7:30-11 PM and optionally Sunday from 7-11 PM. All times are server time.

-Your scheduled bathroom break is 30 minutes before raid time, not 5 minutes after.

2). Raid Attendance and Participation
-All raid participants are expected to log on 30 minutes prior to the scheduled raid time. If your class role is filled in the raid prior to your logging on, your raid slot is forfeit unless you have made arrangements ahead of time with the raid leader. We know that some people are running home from work and may get on a few minutes prior to raid time (your illustrious GM is one of them). Please have your characters in the zone we are raiding with all required materials and repairs made.

-Notice is required if you signed up to raid that night but can not be available. The preferred method of notification is by posting on the "Missing a Raid?" forum.

-Preference for raid spots is given in the order that people signed up for the raid. Additionally, exceptions can be made for required classes, raid member status, and who is online when groups start forming.

-From time to time our raiders will need to craft items that will not be a part of their normal gear, but are intended for specific boss fights. These items (usually resist sets) require a significant amount of very expensive materials. Since these items are for the benefit of the progression of the guild as a whole, we will ask for contributions. Effort put into contributing these items will be considered when people are chosen to fill raid spots.

-Some nights there are more people than it is possible to fit in the limited raid sizing available.  For these nights we have a waitlist that any raid member who meets all relevant requirements for an encounter will be placed on.  If someone needs to leave through the night their spot is filled from the waitlist.  If you are on the waitlist for the entire night you are guarenteed a spot the following night on the same content.

3). Raid Preparation

We want to get the most out of our 3 nights of raiding as possible. Therefore, we require all raiders to come prepared with consumables and fully repaired. This applies to everyone and is tracked as one means of seeing who is really interested in putting forth the effort to get that next boss down.
-Flasks and Elixirs are expected for any boss not on farm. Alchemists within the guild can make the most commonly used flasks so you can just buy or trade for the mats. (Keep in mind that all flasks need to be made in the Alchemy Lab in Shat, so don’t ask for one at the raid entrance.) For Gruul’s Lair, flasks can be purchased using easily farmed Apexis Shards.

-Food buffs stack with flasks and are not terribly difficult to farm or buy. They can be great for a little extra oomph on trash prior to breaking out the flasks as well. Food buffs should always be used for boss attempts.

-Several scrolls stack with other buffs as well and can be a useful addition. These are not as easily farmed so are not expected.

-Potions are expected for all participants. Healers and Casters should carry a minimum of 15 mana potions (over 20 is recommended) walking into a raid that is not on farm. Tanks (except for bears) should have a similar number of health pots. Melee DPS should have at least 10 health pots. You say you never need potions? Great! Then you don’t have to keep replenishing those stacks of pots that you are going to bring anyway.

-Beer can be an excellent liquid buff when used properly. Whiskey is also acceptable.

-All non-healing classes must have 375 first aid and carry a stack of heavy netherweave bandages. Healing classes should work on this too, but it is not as essential.

-Reagents for group buffs get used up quickly. If you are sharing the buffing responsibilities with one other person, bring about 60 of the required reagents for 25-man raids. If you are the only one, bring at least 120 reagents for group buffs. Not expected to buff because you don’t have the points in “improved” whatever? Still bring a stack of reagents in case the designated buffer runs low.

-If you have read this far and you are an filling out an application, the correct answer to "Have you read the Expectations and Guidelines and DKP sections?" is: guinness for strength! Please answer the remainder of the questions as requested in the application.

4). How to Become a Better Raider

We have already stated that raiding is not required to be a member in Psychosis. So what do you do if you want to be included in the raids more often? The first thing to understand is that this is mostly in your hands! There is a 25-man limit to work with, but even with our current group we almost always need alternates. The people who are raiding are not there because we are playing favorites; it is because we can count on them to get the job done. There are three things you need to do to show us we can count on you too.
-Show up. On time even.

-Bring the appropriate consumables for your class and role.

-Do your research. It isn’t always gear that allows big differences in individual performance. There is a wealth of information out there on how to get the most out of your class. Use our class forums to ask questions and to share the resources you have found. Use this to figure out what your class brings to each boss fight.

-Follow directions. The raid leaders need everyone to work together in order to successfully beat encounters. This means raiders need to do what is asked of them and follow directions. If a strategy does not work after a few tries, generally a raid leader(s) will ask for some input on ways to fix the problems. This is your chance to give ideas and advice you may have.

-Use an appropriate talent specialization. This will be judged based on your performance in raids. If you are not sure what you should be using, ask around and someone will assist you.
Yes, we do notice these things and we keep track of it. It’s really up to you to put in the effort.

5). Required Addons

Some add-ons are always a good idea and some are only required for raiding. If you are not a regular raider but are expecting to fill in, please install and test the raiding required add-ons well before the raid start time.

  • Omen: This is a threat meter that is more accurate than KTM, but does work with KTM data. Every member must have an up-to-date Omen or KTM.
  • BigWigs Boss Mod: This add-on provides critical warnings and timers for raid bosses. This is only required for raiding.
  • CT Raid Assist or an equivalent alternative: This add-on provides information to assist the raid leader. This is only required for raiding.

6.)  Raiding Ranks and how they are determined:

RANKS:

CORE RAID MEMBER:  Top tier raid position

Qualifications:
  1. Good Raid Attendance: Probably about a 70-80% attendance rate or higher.
  2. Preparation:
    1. Equipment for raid is repaired, gemmed, enchanted.
    2. Strats are read for new encounters BEFORE we attempt a new boss.
    3. Consumables/Reagents are on that person when raid time begins.
    4. Summary: This person is in the zone/ready for summon when the raid is scheduled to begin (usually before.)
  3. Technical Ability:  Plays class well.
    1. Correctly Specced (PVE vrs PVP etc.)
    2. Summary: This person gets his/her job done effectively
  4. Overall Attitude:
    1. No Drama, this is guild policy and carries over into raids.
  5. Teamwork:
    1. Able to look at each persons importance in a raid and NOT be a diva. 1 person does not make a team, regardless of skill.
    2. Able to effectively look past how he/she feels about a certain player personally and still work with that person to get their job done.
    3. Overall positive attitude towards raiding and the guild. Doesn't bring down morale of the raid by whining, finger pointing, or outright mocking a person/situation.  This is especially important when things don't go his/her way.
    4. Summary:  This one is kinda difficult.  This person is an asset to the raid.  They keep things fun, while maintaining good, focused performance.  They are able to encourage better raid performance in themselves and other people, without bringing the whole raid down.  Most of all they are able to function in a team setting WITHOUT bringing a big basket of drama to the table.  They are able to take both our wins AND losses as a learning experience and use them to contribute to future successes.

BENEFITS of CORE RAID MEMBER STATUS: 1st Priority on Raid Spots, bragging rights on 1st kills.

RAID MEMBER: 2nd tier raid position

Qualifications:
This player is generally very close to making core raid member.  Generally only lacking in one or two of the areas of criteria for Core raid members.  When in raid, this person performs almost identically to a raid member. They are able to get their job done, but for whatever reason, have not pushed their character that extra distance to hit core raid status.

Examples include (but aren't limited to):
Somone who is an awesome player, but is unable to raid consistently.
Someone who is an awesome player but is undergeared for content.
Someone who is an awesome player but currently has an issue with spec/rotation.
BENEFITS of RAID MEMBER STATUS: 2nd priority on raid spots. This is essentially our back up pool. These are the first people we go to in the event that our core raid group doesn't fill all raid spots.

MEMBER/FAMILY/FRIENDS/ALTS:  3 ranks essentially meaning the same thing.  These are our members who do not raid.  They are here because they enjoy our play environment.  They don't want to raid and generally aren't prepared for it.  They may be asked to raid based on skill/gear, but are a last resort.

BENEFITS of MEMBER/FAMILY/FRIENDS/ALTS:  They are in a guild full of fun, helpful, wonderful, enthusiastic people.  Being a member of Psychosis is a benefit in itself.

RECRUIT:  This is a person whom we have recruited for raid.  We are in the process of evaluating their performance/place in the raid. After our trial period is over, this person will either

  • Be a core raid member
  • Be a raid member (in this event, the person will be advised as to why they didn't make core raid member)
  • Decide they love the guild but hate raiding and become a member
  • Decide to leave the guild.
  • Be asked to leave by the officers and given an explanation on why

1). Bank
Psychosis is using the in-game bank feature and has five tabs with varying designations.
  • Tab 1: General Usage - This tab is for general guild usage. All members are able to deposit and withdraw from it and use contents for personal use. This does not include personal profit.
  • Tab 2: Raider Use - This tab contain materials for those of the Raider rank or above to be used specifically for 25-man raiding.
  • Tab 3: Crafting Mats - This tab contains herbs, shards, leather, ore and whatever else may be useful for crafting uses. This tab is not here to fund your leveling, but to make items intended for raid use.
  • Tab 4: The Nice Stuff Tab (Deposit Only) - This tab is for collection of Resist Gear materials, Epic Quality gems, BoE Epic drops from raids etc.  If you want something from it please let an officer know.
There are a few expectations governing bank deposits and withdrawals now that there is increased access to the items in the bank.
  • All withdrawals are intended for the use designated by the tab they are filed under. Please do not use Raider Use items for alts or distribute them to members who do not meet the rank qualifications. We intend the items under the Raider Use tabs to be used to support the 25-man progression of the guild.
  • Any member found profiting from bank withdrawals should see section B4 of the FAQ.
  • All bank donations are voluntary and no member should expect any favors in return for donations.
  • Gold donations are not and are never intended to be used for repairs. Gold may be used to fund respec costs incurred specifically for the benefit of the raid or for purchasing the last bank tab (should it become necessary). If you have respecced at the request of the Raid Leader for the benefit of 25-man progression, please let an Officer know the estimated cost of doing so, including any required gear changes (tailoring specialty, gem replacements, etc.). These requests will be reviewed by the Officers who will then issue reimbursement for accepted expenses.

2). Friends and Family

Real life friends and family of current active guild members are welcome in Psychosis as long as they have read and agreed to the FAQ. Please remember that you are responsible for those that you vouch for bringing in and we want you to think twice before allowing your name to be used by applicants. We would expect that if you do indeed know the applicants and vouch for them that you do speak up in the application area and give us some reasons why you feel they would be a good fit for the guild.

Once in the guild, friends and family will be expected to meet the same low standards of behavior that we have for everyone else. We cannot offer automatic invites to raids, but our raiding guidelines do offer advice on how to become a raider.

3). Member Ranks

Guild Master - the Guild Master - currently Chizza (Lavache's hunter)
Cat Herder - Psychosis officers
Lieutenant - Officer Alt's
Class Lead - Class Leaders
Raid Member - People that for whatever reason dont qualify for Raid Member
Member - Non-raiding members of Psychosis, or those that have not yet reached Raid Member status.
alts-R-us - Alt's of Raid Members & Members
Recruit - a new applicant to the guild
Who is this? - a silent rank - this rank can read guild chat, but can not post to guild chat.  If this is you, you screwed up.

Credits
A lot of the rules and policies posted here were taken from the guild websites for Chupathingy and Ginger Seperatist Movement, then modified (somewhat) for our use. My thanks to them for putting this all together (assuming they were the original creators).

Thanks to Kanelm for taking the time to compile this document and work out the formatting for it.
